The past month and a half in my internship at the VASSC has continued to teach me a lot on the myriad of STEM fields that made the museum possible in the first place in addition to reinforcing the more social aspects of both the fields mentioned and future careers. The various school events that take place at the science center from time to time have been especially eye-opening to the sorts of coordination required between departments to make sure that such events are even possible to begin with, much less operate smoothly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
So far, I have continued to operate the various interactable stations scattered across the museum to the best of my abilities in addition to tackling whatever backroom projects need to be done at the moment: For station management, I often collaborate with fellow Docents or Interns at the museum’s public robotics lab which utilizes various types of commercial robots to showcase some aspect of space travel while making sure visitors remain both entertained and educated on both the robots function and what scientific endeavours they are meant to represent. In addition, from time to time I either run the paper-construction station to illustrate how aircraft designs function via a wind test tunnel or a rocket station sometimes set-up outside the main robotics lab where visitors can launch their own rockets on stomp platforms to teach the basic principles of rocketry. For the projects outside of public duties, I have mostly assisted in basic work such as moving equipment or relieving interns from certain tasks. Currently though, I have been tasked with putting together various robotics kits for an upcoming event in the future. I mostly perform this task for the latter half of my day, as although it is of importance. The upkeep of the robotics lab takes greater precedent on most days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In spite of this internship not entirely revolving around the field of Cyber. The past 100 hours of my internship has still provided an informative and engaging experience on the various STEM fields surrounding Cyber in addition to having a social factor in the form of interacting with center visitors of all age-ranges and knowledge which would have been sorely lacking in a more Cyber-focused internship. With all being said, I hope that my remaining time at the Virginia Air and Space Science Center continues to be just as enlightening as my previous 50.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
