Interpretive, Interpersonal, and Presentational Modes of Communication
Exploring Culture

Toward the end on every chapter on LingoHub I had to do different activities in the Exploración Cultural section. In one of these activities you always learn about people from different Spanish speaking countries. In another you have to do research on Spanish speaking countries and give summaries.
These assignments and activities really helped me get a better feel for Spanish speaking countries. This is because we were not only learning about the countries, but the people that live there as well. All the cultures are different in some way and that is what makes them incredibly unique. What made these assignments challenging was that I had to look thing up in Spanish so it forced me to get comfortable doing that, which I think is really helpful.
Engaging in Communities
I think it is very important that we all engage in our immediate community and global community because we can learn so much from people and they can teach us new things about their culture and perhaps our own culture that we never knew.
In my immediate community I feel welcomed, people are open to sharing their knowledge and experiences with me and I am so grateful for that.
Interpersonal Communication
In Spanish 101 there we did many communications activities. This included completing the Conversar assignments at the end of each chapter with my fellow classmates and having oral exams with my professor.
The Conversar assignments that we had to complete made it easier and easier for to pick up on the language. It was hard for me at first to just talk in straight Spanish, but it got simpler each time we did these assignments. Working with other people in the class was also helpful because we learned from each other. The oral exams were definitely challenging at first because I was unsure how to really prepare. However, after we did them a couple times I started to excel in them. From these activities I learn how to be a more fluid Spanish speaker.
Presentational Speaking

This is a video assignment I made for Spanish class about my university. In it I talk about my three favorite places on campus and what I do at each.
I only completed a few speaking presentational in this class. In all of the presentation I struggled with memorizing what I was going to say because there was a lot of material. However, this also helped me be better prepared because I practiced a significant amount. I excelled at being very expressive with what I was saying, so even if people do not understand they can pick up on what I was talking about.
Presentational Writing
This is an in class write assessment I did after chapter three. In it I go into detail about my weekly schedule.
I believe that I grew a lot from our writing assessments over the semester. They became significantly easier as time past. I took more time to study and really ensure that I know the vocabulary and conjugations whenever I had the next writing assignment. I therefore, become better and more well verse in the language so it was easier for to write things out.
Interpretive Listening

These images are just two examples of the listening activities I completed in this class. In the first I had to press play on each box and listen to the word said then spelled it out. In the second is a video I watched on Frida Kahlo.
In Spanish 101 all of our listening activities and assignments were on LingroHub. The most challenging assignments were the ones that were similar to the first image. We only got to listen to the word it was asking us to spell out, which was difficult at first because I was still learning the alphabet. I overcame this by studying and really getting to know the different letters and pronunciations of the Spanish language. I think the listen activities we did in class helped me immensely with succeeding in the class.
Interpretive Reading

In the class we had to do some research for assignments in LingroHub, which included reading articles about different Spanish speaking countries. The link above is an article the difference between universities in Latin America and the United States.
I found all the research I had to do for assignments fascinating because most of it I did not even know about, especially the article above. The key take away is that Latin American universities are much different than United States universities. I learned new things every time we did a new assignment that requires reading, it made me more knowledgeable of the Spanish speaking world.
