Interpretive, Interpersonal, and Presentational Modes of Communication
Exploring Culture

One practice the helped me better understand values of Hispanic culture was that toward the end of each chapter in Lingrohub we had to complete a section called Exploración cultural. We would the description of the people from different Spanish speaking countries and use those description to help us complete the assignments.
Each of these assignment help me gain a lot of perspective and understanding in regards different Spanish speaking countries. I learned a lot of things that did not know while reading all those descriptions and they really helped me see how incredibly unique each country and their transitions truly are. It was really interesting because I got to read not only about different cultures, but people within those cultures as well. These assignments helped me see that everyone is not the same, but that is what makes the Spanish cultural so special.
Engaging in Communities
I think it is incredibly important to engage in my immediate community and global community because I know I can learn so much from people and they can teach us new things about their culture and perhaps our own culture that we never knew.
In my immediate community I feel welcomed, people are open to sharing their knowledge and experiences with me and I am so grateful for that.
Interpersonal Communication
The TalkAbroad conversations essentially video and audio calls we had with a person from the Spanish speaking country of out choosing. I completed two TalkAbroad conversations over the course of the semester. They were each on different topic, for example the first conversation was about family and the second was on health and food.
I really enjoyed doing the TalkAbroad conversations. At first I was nervous about talking to a native because I knew at times I would not understand everything they were saying, however the people that I talked to cannot have been more nice. They took the conversations slow and really tried to help me understand what they were saying. Throughout every class my teacher also has us student interact with one another, where we ask each other questions and answer each other. All of these activities have made me a much stronger speaker and have expanded my vocabulary immensely.
Presentational Speaking

We did many presentational speaking activities in Spanish class this semester. The video above is just one example and it is a video of me explaining how to make one of my favorite food, tocos de pollos. Another video project I made in the semester was all about my family.
These assignments definitely challenged my creativity with my vocabulary and my ability to create well crafted sentences. They also challenged my memorization skills, but they allowed me to remember the words due to all my practice using them that so I could be able to speak more fluently in class. I excelled at being very expressive with what I was saying, so even if people do not understand they can pick up on what I was talking about.
Presentational Writing

I only completed a few writing projects this semester, such as an infographic and a persuasive advertisement. The picture above is the infographic I wrote about anxiety.
I believe that I grew a lot from our writing assessments over the semester. They became significantly easier as time past. I took more time to study and really ensure that I know the vocabulary and conjugations whenever I had the next writing assignment, especially when we wrote rough draft in class beforehand. I think I definitely become more well verse in the language so it was easier for me to write assignments out.
Interpretive Listening

I completed many listening activities both in class and through Lingrohub this semester. The picture above is just one example from Lingrohub were I had to listen to the person talking and asking questions then respond to them.
Listening activities were such a big part of my learning in Spanish 102. They really helped to understand the language better. I learned to pick out words and phrases that I knew well and use them as context clues if I was not complete sure what someone or a video was saying. The instructional video for vocabulary and grammar also really helped me with memorization of nouns and verbs. Some of these listening activities were challenging because I was not able to read it as well and since I am stilling learning it was difficult to determine what things meant sometimes. I overcame this by studying as best i could and putting in a lot of effort to understand the language.
Interpretive Reading
There was many interpretive communication activities we read on Lingrohub for homework this semester. I also read the article above outside of class. The article Spain playing in the World Cup.
I read this article because I want to see how much I could understand on my own. It was fairly challenging to read and most certainly did not understand all of the words. I overcame by using context clues and picking out words that I already knew to try and comprehend the rest. I thought it interesting to read about an event that is so talked about and popular in english in another language. I have grown with each assignment and become a better Spanish student.
