CYSE 300 – Introduction to Cybersecurity

Course Description

This course provides an overview of the field of cybersecurity. It covers core cybersecurity topics including computer system architectures, critical infrastructures, cyber threats and vulnerabilities, cryptography, information assurance, network security, and risk assessment and management. Students are expected to become familiar with fundamental security concepts, technologies, and practices. This course provides a foundation for further study in cybersecurity.

Course Work

The below images are a few examples of some hands-on lab work that I enjoyed learning about in this class. 

This image represents a type of Network Topology. There are many different topologies such as a Tree, Star, and Ring topology just to name a few. This topology is similar to the tree topology because each item is then branched off into other items.

Nmap is another assignment that I learned about in class. Nmap is an open-source network vulnerability scanner used to discover hosts and open ports/services.
Zenmap is the GUI interface to Nmap. This image shows the GUI for Zenmap.
