. Identify other components of a business-
Besides the stuff like Sales and HR, businesses got other stuff to help them stay
moving like Public Relations, Tech Support, Supply Chain, Vendor Management,
etc. They don’t get that much recognition like the first two, but they help a lot
behind the scenes and are as important.
2. Where do they “fit” in the organization-
Legal usually works with HR and upper management to make sure everything is
correct. The supply chain works with Operations to make sure both materials and
products go where they belong. Tech support is under IT and helps when
systems or devices are not functioning properly.
3. Where does IT “fit” in an organization-
IT is their own department because it supports the whole business. Other
departments often depend on IT because without a good working system there is
no business. IT is more essential when it comes to business.
4. What are the Roles & Responsibilities w/in IT? –
IT has multiple teams doing different things. Some are focused on security,
building systems or apps, managing networks and data, and some handling
testing and reports. Everyone works together to keep everything dealing with
technology up and running.
5. How should IT itself be organized? –
IT should have a clear understanding of what everyone should be doing in their
department. It should be one person at the top that runs the whole thing, so if
anyone has questions, they know who to go to for answers. Then it should be
split into little groups so they can focus on their own individual problems like
hackers and stuff like that. If IT is organized it’s easier to know what went wrong
if a problem occurs.
