She was a teacher for 23 years before she decided to change her career path to become an LPC. Tina has now been an LPC for 4 years. She got into becoming an LPC because during her years while teaching, she realized that a lot of the students she taught needed some type of guidance or counseling but with the understaffing of schools, the school counselors had to act as lunch ladies, and they didn\u2019t have time to sit down and talk to the students. From there, she became an LPC to meet the needs of individuals while also giving them education on mental health. Tina sees 15-20 patients per day, ages 13 and up. The most rewarding aspect of her job is when patients develop the desire to go outside and engage with the world. To someone going into the healthcare field, she says to research as much as you can and make sure you know how many years of education are required and how many hours you\u2019ll have to work and to decide what type of environment you want to work in.
