My overall score was 18, with 1 being the lowest and 5 being the highest on a scale of 1 to 5. I fall into level 3. Thus, I have moderate addiction to social media. The scale’s items measure a person’s usage of social media and potential for addiction reasonably accurately. The tool asks how often one checks such platforms, how much time one spends on them, and how much distraction one feels from them. These elements may affect a person’s relationships and day-to-day activities significantly. Globally, there are differences in the patterns of addiction and social media use because of social, cultural, and economic factors. For example, nations with high rates of internet penetration and fast-paced lifestyles might have higher rates of such an addiction. One’s relationship with social media can also be influenced by cultural norms and values if their cultures value technology and virtual connections. Finally, different patterns seen worldwide can be attributed to economic factors such as access to social media platforms and technology.

Social media and cybersecurity Complete the Social Media Disorder scale. How did you score? What do you think about the items in the scale? Why do you think that different patterns are found across the world? A self-reported tool called the Social Media Disorder scale is used to gauge how addicted a person is to…

[1
