Based on the linked articles for the potential motives for cybercrimes and criminals. I think the number one motive would be for money. I put this at one because I think money drives the world and these cyber criminals usually are looking for financial gain as a big majority of cybercrimes include things such as scams and data stealing. Multiple reasons is second for me as according to the article “What drives Hackers to a life of cybercrime” by Kacy Zurkus that other than money being the main driver ego and revenge as well as physical and socioeconomical factors play a big role for hackers committing these cybercrimes. Third would be Political as I think especially in todays climate with all that is happening with the upcoming election and the previous that other countries like Russia put a lot of money into bot accounts and fraud accounts trying to sway elections. Talks of Voter fraud and election fraud have also been increasing which also would be political motivation. Fourth would be Recognition as I think like the multiple reasons explained that ego plays a big role but I still think even with ego there is still usually a main driver whether that is money or a political message. Fifth would be Revenge as I think that people tend to not let things go and or always are looking to get back at someone or something when they feel they have been done wrong so just due to human nature this definitely would be a reason for committing these crimes. Sixth would be entertainment as I dont see it as a huge driver at least not more than the five previously mentioned but you can definitely find cases where there doesnt seem to be any political or monetary gain as well as no signs of revenge and or recognition as a lot of hackers stay anonymous. Last would be boredom, I think people who are bored or overstimulated may find themselves doing and or looking at bad things but I put this last as I just dont see it as a bigger factor towards cybercrime than the six previously mentioned.
