Fake websites are made to trick users into putting their information such as emails, passwords, billing information, ssn, and many other important pieces of information to then take something from you whether that’s money or access to your system and or network. The attacks usually come in the form of a phishing attack. These websites are cleverly made to look exactly like a real website to make users feel safe giving a false sense of security to put information in. An example of a fake website could be something like Amaz0n.com apposed to the real site Amazon.com, this could trick a user because when you get an email about a problem with your account and you click the link the user might night notice the subtle 0 for an o in the browser. Misspelled urls and unsecure HTTP are commonly used as well while real websites use HTTPS and have clean urls with no errors. Other examples of fake websites could be something like www.facebok.com and something more clever like www.paypal-support.com which at a glance could easily look like a real trusted site.
