Ethical Considerations of CRISPR Gene Editing

Digitizing DNA presents significant ethical concerns that necessitate strict security controls. Although DNA databases provide insights on matters that can include medical research into fatal diseases, we cannot compromise informed consent and individual rights. Robust safeguards for genetic data usage, such as strict data security, transparent procedures, restricted access, and responsibility for breaches, should be required. Progress may be slowed, but human well-being must come first. Without adequate bio-security measures for such sensitive bodily data, we risk normalizing privacy abuses and harms. Ethically, human rights should take precedence above profits or growth.
