Why are you interested in cybersecurity technology?
Since I was a kid, I have always had a genuine interest in technology and computers. What began as a love for gaming then became a desire to make games via programming, which later turned into a a desire to fix computer issues for people through problem solving. Cybersecurity combines both passions through the competitive factor of gaming and problem solving factor of information technology. The entire word is rapidly moving into a new digital age where computers are at the forefront of everything we do in our daily lives. Where there is an abundance of opportunity for growth using technology, there is also a risk because bad actors are constantly finding ways to use this technology for unlawful and unethical reason whether it be for monetary gain or personal praise. I want to have a part in protecting the future of technology as well as the people who use it that may not be as tech savvy as me. So far I have taken multiple CompTIA certification tests that analyze both your knowledge of information technology terms and your ability to solve technology related problems. Although they were difficult, they gave me a great idea of what to expect when I enter the field. I still believe that hands on experience will be more important than just knowing the terms and concepts. For that reason, I am glad that cybersecurity also has an abundance of competitions like capture the flag that are not only fun to participate in but help you develop your skills in the field. This is especially useful because Information Technology and security is always changing in order to improve and patch the latest vulnerabilities.
