During this week’s reading you’ve been exposed to two different points of view regarding human contribution to cyber threats. Realizing that you have a limited budget, how would you balance the tradeoff of training and additional technology? Explain your reasoning.

Between the two articles I read this week, I was introduced to two contrasting points of view on human contribution to cyber risks. A trade-off (or trade-offs) is a strategic decision that involves reducing or eliminating one quality, quantity, or feature of a set or design in exchange for improvements in other areas. A tradeoff is defined as a situation in which one thing must grow while another must decline. Furthermore, realizing that my company has a limited budget; some ways I would balance the tradeoff are managing global IT talents and focusing on the risks. I would manage global IT talent and skills shortages while working within budget restrictions by establishing relationships with resourceful professionals in the industry and volunteering them to coach and mentor current company employees in order to improve their skills and performance, as well as associating them with the company’s talent development program and giving them due credit for their efforts. When it comes to risks, if a certain technological danger poses a high risk to your firm, you’ll almost certainly need more data to “understand” the balance. In this situation, the high risk may expose your organization to the point where you can make smarter business decisions. The following two reasons, in my opinion, would assist a corporation in balancing the tradeoff of training and technology.
