Blog 1 :

Since I am majoring in psychology, I find the course objectives interesting. My exceptions of this course is to learn the key materials that will help me further in my education. For example, I want to gain knowledge of the study social psychology and how it effects individuals behaviors. I would also like to be able to take what I am learning and use them for everyday experiences. Furthermore, the strategies that I intend to use to be successful in this course is time management, studying, and all available resources.

Blog 2 :

What kind of student am I? I consider myself to be the student that always wants to learn more. Although most people my age find school a waste of time and boring, I actually enjoy it. My current level of confidence as a student is in the middle, as I feel like I could definitely do better. With that being said, I feel like getting better grades and staying on top of work will help increase my confidence. After doing the self-efficacy, my results came back as 2.5. The results to me seem accurate, and I was not surprised that my self-efficacy scale would be in the middle.

I feel like music has a different way of speaking and connection people. Music to me has always been a way of expressing myself. I agree with the article on the idea that music is a way of finding similar personality traits. I personally feel like music is also a go to topic when meeting new people.

Blog 4 :

Doing this process I learned that it helps you fully learn the content when reviewing your notes and exam after. This helped go over the ones I struggled with and got wrong, so that next time I see the question l will know. Although, studying can be frustrating and time consuming it is worth it. I try studying with music and in a comfortable quiet place to make it easier.

Blog 6 :

Before watching the Ted Talk, I had always realized how ads portrayed women. They make it seem like if you do not fit in the social definition of ” beautiful ” that you need enhancements. The video help me acknowledge how serious these stereotypes are being displayed. Below are more examples of these stereotypic ads.

The article on mating was interesting. It had me thinking of all the problems a relationship can have. Most of the times I can think of a man upsetting a women, is by being disloyal. On the other hand, it is men getting upset over women because they don’t trust them. I feel like a lot of that has to do with how society today portray relationships.

Blog 9 :

Throughout this course I have learned many things. For blog three I had to talk about music and how they connect people. Since then, I have noticed that a lot of music I listen to is because I can relate to the lyrics. Music to me has always been another way to express how I am feelings. After realizing that I started to notice that most people I hang around have almost the same music taste as me. Another thing I learned, is how stereotyped some women advertisements can be. In addition to that, leads me to the last thing I learned, how stereotyped relationships are. In health psychology, we learned similar points about how ads portray women. They make it seem like if you do not fit their idea of beautiful that you need enhancements.

Reflecting back over this course, I realized I have learned a lot more than I expected. Before, I expected to only learn facts and definitions that would help in that career. Now not only have I gained knowledge to further my education, but things about myself and relationships with people. If I could do anything differently, I would set more time for myself to do work. On the other hand, academically I have learned to take better notes and get the key information.
