The NIST Cybersecurity Framework offers an easy and basic understanding of how to properly protect your, or your company’s, data and information. Organizations that apply the NIST framework to their practices would have a more organized view of their cybersecurity needs. Furthermore, the organization using the framework could create a more precise budget plan. Being able to properly define your organizations basic cybersecurity needs would allow you to focus your budget on the exact needs or standards that your cybersecurity plan requires. Another benefit would be the creation of a more complex and appropriate system with which to secure your data. The NIST framework allows for companies to build off of the basic standards that it describes while still allowing those companies to create a framework that best fits their needs.
Cybersecurity is extremely important in my workplace as it is interacts with a lot of private patient medical information. One of the biggest things I would focus on is physical security. At CVS (my workplace) there is almost constant foot traffic in and out of the store, and ,without taking proper security measures, someone could easily sneak a peak at someone’s private information. Having restricted access to the pharmacy system using locked door, computer passwords, and temporary credentials would significantly reduce the risk of an unauthorized person stealing personal information.
