- United States
“While cybercrime is an issue in the United States, it is also true that the United States is the country with the best infrastructure to tackle it and has the most cybersecurity firms in the world calling it home. The U.S. is cooperative when dealing with cybercrime worldwide and is relatively organized with its cybersecurity efforts. The Global Cybersecurity Index gave it a perfect score, and a few weaknesses can be found. The only improvement we could mention is taking better efforts to inform the population of potential cybersecurity threats. Only 2.89 percent of mobile devices are infected with malware, and an extremely small percentage of devices are infected with banking or ransomware trojans. Attacks across the board are low, bringing it up in previous years’ rankings.”
- Finland
A relative newcomer to our rankings, Finland has earned it with its excellent legal measures to combat cybercrime. Additionally, it is the country with the lowest rate of mobile malware infection, at 1.06 percent. Malicious mailings are also practically nonexistent, and targeted attacks across the board are minimal. Finland is doing a great job overall, and more recently, the government is providing funds and efforts that would help companies shore up their cyberdefenses in response to a more dangerous world. It is a proactive step that we wish more countries would take and take publicly. Yet as every country has the opportunity to improve, we would like to see more organization from the country when it comes to combating cybercrime, both internationally and internally. The strong legal measures and technical capabilities can only come to full fruition if a plan of action prioritizes minimizing cybercrime.”
