This is where you can find all my work that I accomplished while in the course SPAN 102. I hope you find it informational and enjoy the content!
Reflecting the semester
I started off in Spanish 101 in the fall semester of 2020. I was nervous taking the next class for Spanish since Spanish is not my first language. I had the same teacher from the first semester so I knew I would have help if needed. I faced a couple of challenges that were easy fixes. Some challenges I ran into were conjugation and reflexive verbs. I had to study a little harder on these subjects rather than others, but studying made it a lot easier in the end to comprehend. With learning a new language you have to put the time into studying to be able to really understand what is being said. This is not something you can learn in a night, you have to take the time to learn and absorb the information.
Understanding Culture
Culture is important to every community. I enjoyed learning about the differences with my culture and some hispanic culture. During the semester, we did several discussion boards. One discussion board that I enjoyed was about markets in Spain. Markets like in Spain are not as usual in America and where I live. Learning about what is consisted in a market in Spain and what we consider a market here was astonishing.

Interpersonal Communication
In Spanish 102, an important aspect is seeing you are absorbing what you have learned, different from last semester, we had to use TalkAbroad which was a website where we could chose anyone from a Spanish speaking country and have a conversation with them.

This is a reflection from the TalkAbroad experience. I feel that TalkAbroad is important in this class because it gives you a chance to meet new people. I was definitely nervous at first because I am not fluent, but my partner was very nice and helpful. We had to do this two times with different people. My second time was recently and I was lot more confident. My partner gave me feedback after most things I said and it was very encouraging and made me confident in my speaking. I would recommend this to anyone who is even outside of class. It gives you perspective other than just talking to a student or professor.
Presentational Writing
In Spanish 102, more is expected of you. You completed the first basic part of the class and this class is more of a reflection of what you know and how far you have come. We completed two compositions this semester that consisted of us writing in Spanish.

These assignments were enjoyable. I got to do research on a hotel in Spain and plan a fake life. The assignment where I made a make-believe life was a little hard. It was hard with coming up with a daily routine but the composition on the hotel was fun and came easy to me. That one was my favorite because it intrigued my interests. I one day soon hope to visit that hotel and have a good time.
Presentational Speaking
For the semester, we had one oral exam at the end of the year. The oral exam consisted of questions from the whole semester from chapters that we learned. We did our orals one on one with our professor through zoom.
I feel that the two previous TalkAbroads prepared me for my oral exam with my professor because I had got feedback from other people outside of my class so when it came down to the oral exam I felt fully prepared to talk to my professor confidently along with practice during class.
Overall, the semester was lots of fun. I feel more confident being able to learn more and explore hispanic countries. With Spanish not being my first language, it was challenging at some points but I made sure to keep on practicing and perfect my accent along with perfecting and learning the words.
