Cyber Security is the practice of protecting systems, networks, and different kinds of programs from digital attacks. There are many majors that are related to cyber security offered here at Old Dominion University. The first major that’s offered at ODU and relates to cyber security is computer engineering. Computer engineering and cyber security are relatable because they both focus on design and application of secure. Computer engineering focuses on the practical aspects of development and use of computers. Both cyber security and computer engineering will require someone to be familiar with computers and different software’s. the second major that’s related to cybers security is information systems and technology. The two fields are similar because both professions will require up-to-date information on network status, critical thinking, extreme computer skills, and both can be able to get hired somewhere similar. The third major offered at ODU that’s like cyber security is cybercrime. Cybercrime is a crime that involves and uses computer devices and internet. Cybercrime be committed against big companies, individuals, government and private organizations. Cybercrime can cause loss of billions every year. Cybercrime can be such: s hacking, child pornography, copyrights, and cyber-terrorism. Cyber security plays a major role to prevent this kind of crimes from happening to us. Cyber security can secure different kinds of information, computers, networks, programs, and personal data. The fourth major that relates to cyber security is cyber operations. Cyber operations are offensive in nature while cyber security is defensive in nature. Cyber operations target systems that involve with network defense, operating systems, different kinds of communication devices (technologies), and network security in order to affect operation. Cyber security protects and secures the data while cyber operations spy and try to get the data.
