Interpretive, Interpersonal, and Presentational Modes of Communication
Discussion boards and assignments geared toward displaying a certain culture has definitely given me insight of how different parts of the world operate.
I was able to see the authenticity of Hispanic culture through reading and watching videos. From doing so, my interest grew and I never held any type of stereotype or misconceptions about the Hispanic culture.

Engaging in Communities
In English, give a brief description of the value of, and importance of, engaging in your immediate community and the global community.
As a human race, it is important that we connect and share in order to understand each other and to deteriorate the divide between races.
For the partner conversations we were given an outline of discussion. Through zoom we were able to connect with at least one person in our online course. The conversation is used to build a habit of speaking to one another with casual conversation in Spanish.
From the beginning of the semester until now, I see some growth in how well I can articulate my sentences in Spanish while doing partner conversations. Noticing that taking more time to practice before hand really helped me do better with that assignment. Discussion boards gave even more opportunity to type in Spanish while also connecting with my peers.
This semester, I took my first public speaking class. One of my speeches was about civil rights activist, Claudette Colvin. The purpose of my speech was to inform my listeners about who she was and why she is important to the movement. These speeches are never recorded, but we do use presentations to outline our main idea a give a visual to listeners.
Public-Speaking-Informative-SpeechFor this class we had to present a persuasive, informative, how-to, and ceremonial speech. A challenge for me was overcoming anxiety. Each speech was better than the one before and I made great progress through rehearsing what I was going to say. I also received feedback from my professor and other students in the class that helped me progress.
