I am in my last year at ODU, as a cybersecurity student I have learned a lot of different skills and had the opportunity to work on different projects. Some of the classes that I enjoyed and learned the most skills in were comm112 and IDS 493. Communication class helped me be good at communicating and the IDS 493 class helped with creating my professional Eportfolio which I would be using when applying for jobs.

The skills I value the most are effective communication I learned from COMM 112 class. Working on a Linux system has made me better at this operating system. Last but not least, building a professional Eportfolio is very valuable as I would be attaching this with the job applications. 

I have learned how to be more organized and disciplined with my time. As I work full-time and also as a full-time student, it becomes difficult to keep track of all the assignments from different classes. To overcome this difficulty, I started dedicating specific time to each course. For example, Monday and Tuesday for one class, Wednesday and Thursday for other classes, and two more days for other classes, and so on. I had some classes in previous semesters with high loads of homework that made me stay on top of each week’s assignments.

This course helps students build their professional Eportfolio which they use to get attention from potential employers. Using WordPress in depth is something I found interesting because before this class I did not have this much knowledge about it. If someone could only look at one thing in my Eportfolio it would be my skill page. After last week’s assignments, I think my skill page has improved a lot. Finding enough content was something I found challenging at the beginning of this course. But after watching the professor’s suggested Eportfolios helped me with ideas for what I could add to my Eportfolio. Just finishing the assignment for previous classes has helped me with the content to add to my Eportfolio.

Considering all the skills and courses, I can definitely say that I have improved a lot as a better individual. Now I think more in an interdisciplinary manner and try to see different perspectives on any issue to find multiple solutions. Relations between different courses are staying disciplined and making sure to dedicate enough time to each course’s assignments. In cybersecurity, we have to stay on top of hackers to counter their attacks. Having an interdisciplinary mindset is very important to come up with a solution in a timely manner. After ODU, I will be looking forward to starting my career in the cybersecurity field and learning more real-life techniques.
