I am pursuing a Bachelors of Science degree in Nursing with a minor in Children’s Rights. I chose this major with the minor in hopes of becoming a NICU or Mother/Baby Nurse and further on Neonatal Nurse Practitioner. I have always dreamed of helping young infants and mothers who are weak and cannot advocate for themselves. I have volunteer previously at a local hospital doing various of duties like patient discharge. However, one of the reasons I chose ODU is because it is close to the Children’s Hospital of Kings and Daughters. Working at a pediatric hospital has always been my dream and I am currently in the midst of getting started with my volunteer position I attained there. I hope this gives me more experience in the field especially in pediatrics dealing with the patients as well as their parents and family members and handling conflict with grace and empathy.
