Hacker Rates 12 Hacking Scenes in Movies and TV | How Real Is It? | Insider (youtube.com)

After watching the video, write a journal entry about how you think the media influences our understanding about cybersecurity.

Based on the video, the media appears to make cyber-attacks seem much easier than they are. They appear to take much less time and do not require a lot of prior work to setup whereas in the real world these operations would be taking at least multiple days, if not weeks or months.

This video also points out the fact that cyber-attacks have been around for a while and our systems are still susceptible to a lot of what’s going on. So much of this has to do with the human factor concept of cybersecurity. It is so easy for hackers to determine which passwords you frequently use or have used in the past and use that information to login to your accounts and take whatever information they want which is something I actually learned watching this video. I had no idea prior to that there were leaked password sites available which show what passwords were used by who, for what, and when.

Ultimately, the media depicts cyber-attacks which have already happened in the real world and makes them seem like almost anybody could do these things in a matter of just a few hours whereas real cyber-attacks take much more effort and coordination to perform.
