I’ve often scrolled through social media and found posts that are misleading or just completely false. These posts range from celebrities to senators to everyday people. This topic has recently come up in the miliary involving foreign agents creating posts on social media to create wedges and form distrust between miliary members and government leaders. It is incredibly important to not believe everything that you read on the internet and to conduct your own research. In a society where tensions are high, it is very easy to ignite a spark and light a fire which can divide a nation.

The human domain and social cybersecurity are very important aspects of the puzzle that is cybersecurity. Just as the article states “Traditional cybersecurity involves humans using technology to “hack” technology. The target is information systems. Social cybersecurity involves humans using technology to “hack” other humans. The targets are humans and the society that binds them.” In order to have a healthy cybersecurity and social cybersecurity relationship we must take into consideration the behaviors of people and the societal norms that surround us. We must be aware of human-centric threats and insider threats.

Creating policies that enable cybersecurity while maintaining trust between the government and the general public requires a delicate balance between security needs and individual rights. In order to prevent a wedge forming in an organization/government we must constantly be building trust and credibility not only with foreign countries but the general public as well. By architecting a safe and reliable cyber domain with cyber policies and cyber laws we can build that trust. We MUST be constantly taking into question the ethics and privacy considerations of policies and laws and ensuring we are not infringing on individuals’ rights and freedoms.
