Journals 11-15
Journal 11- First-year overview
My first year of college has been a wild one, from long nights to hazy mornings. My first semester was a solid one, for the most part, I met tons of new people some that became good friends. I found a new sense of independence since I was away, and I loved the experience. My freshman year came to a screeching halt, because of the coronavirus pandemic, I was heartbroken because all of my freedom and fun was now gone for the time being. I miss college life dearly, and I can’t wait to do bigger and better things in the fall. I plan on making even better grades and participating more in campus events. Overall, my first year of college had its ups and downs but I learned a lot about my self and glad I got the experiences I did.
Journal 12-Spring Break 2021
Spring Break for college students is a very exciting time. I plan on having a memorable few spring breaks in the coming semesters. I want to go to Miami, Florida with a bunch of friends and have the time of our lives. We could all get an Airbnb, that is not too far from the beach. Spring Break in Miami is immensely popular, and the beach is the prized destination. Being with a bunch of people around my age, all having a great time will be an exhilarating experience.
Journal 13-My new job
I recently got a job at an Amazon warehouse. I work as a sortation associate, in which I sort boxes in order to be sent to the USPS and amazon prime. The workload can be very heavy, but I persevere through it and get the job then. My shift varies it can be from 1:15 pm – 5:15 pm, 1:30-5:30, 1:30-6:30 pm, etc depending on the number of packages coming in. I work with scanners in order to scan packages. The job is solid so far and I get paid $15.00 an hour. Overall, working at Amazon has its perks and I see myself being here for a while.
Journal 14-Emotional Intelligence
Emotional Intelligence is defined as the ability to perceive and manage your emotions properly. In the present digital age of social media, Facebook and Twitter have now become the means to which people express their emotions and rant out their negative feelings out in the open for the whole world to see. What they do not realize is that journaling can also serve as an outlet for processing emotions and increases self-awareness.
Journal 15- Favorite social media
Twitter is a guilty pleasure for me because it’s got a lot of idiots and trolls and it probably makes me stupider. But I use it a lot. I mainly use it to talk about sports and make the occasional wisecrack, but that’s about it. You can reach your idols and favorite actors/business people or other celebs and in most of the cases, they’ll give you a nod with a like, reply, or retweet.
Reflection Essay 3
Reflecting on my progress in University 150 from weeks 11 through 15, I would say I have made tremendous progress and I am very proud of myself and the things I have accomplished in the course. I have submitted my assignments on time and have pushed myself to work on getting my work done in a timely matter. I have been checking blackboard daily to see any updates on my grades, as well as checking my email for notes and updates to make sure I stay on top of things. I have been completing the grammar practice online, to better up my grammar skills to up my understanding of punctuation and mechanics. I have been completing my essay assignments and looked at the prompts thoroughly and planned the essays out accordingly, to have a great finished essay. My writing skills have been upped since doing the journals from 1-15, and my content has reflected in my essays because I can discuss more content. I did not do any extra credit essays, because of the workload I couldn’t find time to, however, I wish I did to even more boost my essay writing skills than they are now. I completed the quizzes well before the due dates to get ahead of my assignments and essays. The midterm was great and the fact it was timed made it kind of challenging to complete, I received a 6.5/10 which I felt was a fair grade. Word Press has been great, I have all my journals up and all my editing skills checklist completed. The ePortfolio, which is on WordPress, has been simple I wish I started it earlier so I could have become ahead of the curve and finished and done. WordPress is easy to use, and I have had little to no problems using it. Though it seemed overwhelming considering everything that is supposed to be uploaded on the site. I plan on preparing for English 110, by writing more consistently during my free time and doing more grammar practice to up my grammar. Focus on communicating my ideas in the fewest words possible. I can learn to stretch out every sentence to hit the assignment’s minimum word count, and it shows. I want to work on citing where I find my information which is crucial because not properly crediting the work of others in one’s writing is plagiarism. Colleges and universities take plagiarism very seriously, and students in college English 110 classes who don’t provide the sources they used in writing their essays can fail those assignments or be evaluated by academic dishonesty committees, who might decide that the I should fail the entire class or even be asked to leave the school. Overall, I wanna work on my editing and grammar skills to better my essays.
