About Me

Hi everyone! My name is Kathryn Taylor and this is my last year at ODU. I started the journey in Human Services last year and I only have one semester left. I am from a small town in southwest Virginia called Honaker. I am a distance learner and it has been a crazy journey but a good one. I am a volunteer/ substitute at my local elementary school and a Sunday school teacher at my church. I enjoy hiking, fishing, reading, sewing and cooking. I recently got engaged to my wonderful fiancé Jake and we are beginning to plan our wedding for next year! It is so exciting! I have chosen my major in Human Services because I love helping others and caring for them. With my degree I would love to work as a TDT ( therapeutic daytime treatment) counselor and help children that have behavioral and/or emotional issues. Through my experiences in working with children, I enjoy working with the children that the teachers cannot seem to control or seem to disrupt the class more than usual. I find that there is always a reason behind the behavior of a child rather than someone saying that they are just mean or have a bad temper.  I am taking this class because it is part of my major and I am hoping to figure out more of what program development implement funding is in the human service field.
