Artifact 5: Module 5

This artifact had strong relevance to what I am about to experience. With graduating and preparing for a job, marrying my fiance, and just going on in the adult life in general, it is a big deal to make good first impressions and understand the people you have to work for and with in the future. Self- enhancement and other-enhancement play an important role and I found this out after answering all the prompts on how I would prepare myself in each situation. It made me nervous just thinking about how I would approach them, even ones I had done before!

This is a checklist with steps that I already follow and some that I could implement into my self-enhancement and other-enhancement. On of my favorite things in this is ding research about the company. I think that this is something that many people forget about. Employers like to know that you did research about their company and may be familiar with some theri procedure or their history.

Artifact 4: Module 7

Module 7 discusses cognitive dissonance and how people may say or believe one thing, and do another. I find this too be strange about humans because I think that most animals act on what they think with little thought behind it. I think it takes a lot of work to feel one way but act another. This is something that I think we work on daily to fit into a group, or to make ourselves more appealing to others. Artifact 7 was interesting because it made me reflect on myself and how growing up I experienced cognitive dissonance.

I chose this image because sometimes we may think about cognitive dissonance as big decisions and choices we have to make in life. In all honesty, it can be something simple like stealing a bag of paper clips from your office. Morality says no but desire to have a large collection of paper clips at home says otherwise!

Artifact 3: Module 6

In this module we discussed our different traits. While reading through lists of these I remember looking up what the qualities of traits were and certain scenarios. I learned that some traits I thought I had, I maybe fit better into other traits more. I also asked other people what they thought were some strong traits for me and many were very consistent. This task would be a great addition to this assignment.

I chose these traits because I feel like I can see all of these in me every day. I think that there are many more traits that I have but that these are the most common. The people who know me the best almost all agreed that being humorous and friendly are my top 2 traits, this is why they are listed at 1 and 2.

Artifact 2: Module 12

I enjoyed this artifact because i think it offers many different points of view about aggression. I think that many people have different ideas and concepts about what they think aggression pertains to. I personally don’t think that anything that has to do with natural instincts is aggression, however, I can see how someone may think that a cat killing a mouse just because, is aggressive. Aggression is a broad topic and while there is a definition, personal beliefs also have a lot to do with what we think of as aggressive.

I chose to screenshot a portion of my responses because reading some of these, I have learned that something can be aggressive to me, but not others. When reading some of these options, I could see how maybe my sister who is a little more sensitive than I am or has different beliefs than me, mey see something such as wolves fighting, to be aggressive.

Artifact 1: Module 4

I enjoyed this artifact the most because of the video and the concept of heuristics. This is a concept I had not learned about previously in other courses and I was intrigued by this ability we have. I also have strong opinions about the media and the role it plays.

In this part of the video, they discuss how politician try to sway and scare the public into believing their side of the story and following them in their campaign. I believe this stuck out to me from the very beginning because it is true and we see it in our news and social media every day. This is what, from the very beginning, has an influence on our heuristics and I believe it is mainly due to the fact that we are hearing these things from public figures who are supposed to be doing what is best for our people as a country. They fill our heads with these ideas of people overseas being bad based on where they are from. On other politicians based on their politics versus religion etc
