Compare cybersecurity risks in the U.S. and another country. Week 4
While everywhere has cybersecurity risks because of the progression of the cyber world becoming more advanced in technology. The top cyber threats in 2021 in the United States are phishing, exploitation of remote working, cloud adoption, and an epidemic of healthcare cyber attacks just to name a few. Phishing is a problem because it is the most effective route to gain unauthorized access to the organization’s systems and networks. The technique is easy to fool the employees that enter their credentials to access the information. The pandemic has had a play in the phishing problem because third party platforms are being used for work platforms because of not being able to be in the office and face to face, other practices had to be adopted such as zoom and google teams. While workers feel that sensitive information can not be hacked and do not think the platforms can be accessed by an unauthorized party it actually can be accessed. Which leads to the next risk such as exploitation of remote work which has given the cyberattackers a field day because making it easier to tap into the companies networks and the vulnerabilities of the VPN. Working from home makes the employees’ computers more vulnerable to viruses and and more compromised. Cloud adoption is a new way of storing important documents and other forms of paper trail just electronically but can still be vulnerable to cyber risks. Cyber threats in China are insufficient security controls over data being transferred, the access of security management. China also has weak organizational security and resources which makes it harder for the damaged companies to be able to respond back to cyber attacks. Statistics show that China has suffered from financial losses due to the action of sensitive information being leaked such as junk mail and fraud. While both countries experience cybersecurity risks one is more prepared and has better security to address different problems.
