Four other majors offered by ODU and how they can relate to cybersecurity. Week 2
While Old Dominion offers many majors for bachelor’s degrees within the institution that are specific to different business fields. There are many majors that provide the students with different skills to have excellent performances in cybersecurity jobs. While researching through the undergrad programs I came across a few programs but not limited to these. Such as Business Analytics, Computer Science, Cyber Operations and Database Administration. Business Analytics can pertain to cybersecurity because the major has to do with the expertise of computers for business, which helps students gain skills when it comes to computer complications within the business. This major helps students be savvy with technology and different data platforms, with management techniques. The major can strengthen the ability for a company to be able to deal with data breaches and cybersecurity attacks within the organization. Computer Science focuses on preparing students with developing software, including database and network and information dealing with security analysis. Which can pertain to cybersecurity when it comes to securing the businesses from cyber security risks. Cyber Operations can be related to cybersecurity deals with the entire scope of the cyberspace and operations that are technical and non-technical. The courses within the major provides the students with skills to be able to have knowledge on what procedures to take for defense, system attacks and exploitations. The major Database Administration combines business knowledge and technical skills to help students deal with business analytics and system implementation. All of these majors can be related to cyber security because of the detailed training each program offers for the different procedures in cyberspace within the cybersecurity world. While all of these majors are unique in many ways and some are more detailed on different topics for different situations they are very similar, and can be used in the same field of work for graduates when looking for occupations.
