I think the rapid advancement and development has definitely allowed for the advent of workplace deviance. Companies are no longer static places where individuals go to work and leave at the end of the day. They’re their own networks, connected to other networks for continued operation. The complexity and convenience that’s come with technological advancement has also left open some holes that can be exploited. The biggest threat to companies and infrastructure in my opinion aren’t external attackers, they are the people who go to work everyday and that goes double for a possible disgruntled employee. They have all the tools to take advantage of systems they had access to. Especially if the off-boarding/separation process takes a while to complete. Just in an analog sense they could leak private or sensitive information, digitally they could use their permissions to give someone access to their systems, which then allows them time to figure out more vulnerabilities. Passwords, building layout, key cards…are just a few examples I could think of that someone could use. Companies nowadays have to keep this in mind and take measure to prevent this from happening or have systems that will mitigate the damage as much possible if it does, along with treating their employees well enough to lessen the probability of it.
