It is also described as voluntary activity that breaches important standards and endangers the well-being of a business and its employees. With the advancement of cyber technology, there are more potential for workplace deviance to occur. This is related to insider threats within a business or organization. Cyber loafing is one sort of workplace misbehavior that happens. Employees that use their company’s Internet connection for personal purposes during work hours are said to be cyber loafing. This is a form of workplace deviance since the company’s well-being is jeopardized. Unproductive conduct is a prevalent sort of workplace deviance, therefore activities like using the Internet for personal purposes come under this category. Other types of workplace deviance include property abuse and failing to obey corporate regulations. Workers can use work phones or laptops to access personal information while on the job, thanks to advances in cyber technology. Because many individuals do not utilize technology for what it is intended for, the advent of technology has created a far larger challenge for businesses. Another issue that I believe has arisen as a result of technology is that many individuals will spend their time at work on social media rather than working on their duties. Some people also purchase online while at work, which is probably against the company’s intentions for using the technology. Many people utilize cyber technology inadvertently rather than maliciously. Cyber technology is being used by an increasing number of organizations and businesses, yet this may cause challenges within the firm. Overall, in order to reduce workplace deviance, there should be guidelines regarding how to use technology in the office.
