My study habits are getting better and better each day I believe. The main class I study for is Chemistry and that is about 30 minutes each day either by myself. In the study groups we have for this class we study for about 2-3 hours. I feel as if I need to put more studying in my Chemistry class because it is kind of hard, but some stuff I know really good. I either study in my room, another friends room, or the little conference room that we have in our building. I do not find myself easily distracted while studying. If I am distracted it is because of my phone, or if I have Grey’s Anatomy on. I can study anytime of the day. I feel more focused at night to study because I would be finished with my classes. I am more awake at night then day.
I really do not have any specific study techniques to use. All I do is print the reviews out, answer them, then if they gives us the answer I go back to see if I got it right. I study that over and over again. Also with the review I go back and look at some of my notes, or the powerpoint they have made. I do the same thing for each class, so there is not a difference from class to class. The only new technique that I have tried this semester was the study groups.
I am going to say that it is a yes and a no because I am still trying to get used to everything and that I do not have a vehicle to travel to places like the mall or the movies. It is different because it is a big city and I am not used to a big place like this, I lived in a little town where everything was just quiet. One thing that has surprised me this far is the outranging fire alarms that we have had this semester. I do live on campus in Gresham Main and one of the toughest challenges moving from home is not being around my family. A challenge that I have overcome is making new friends. My friends are on the same hall as I am and we even have most of the same classes together.
One challenge that I had so far this semester is starting my Rhetorical Analysis for my English class. I use the Writing Center to help me with the issues I had and they were very helpful. Yes, I have had the friends I made, my roommate Briana, and my Professor Trapani to help me with things I did not understand what I was doing. I have attended one GLOSS meeting and it was amazing of them of what the do for and with girls and young women. I decided not to get involved because of money issues that I have.
