My major that I’m pursing is Nursing. I choose this major because I use to take care of my great-grandmother when nobody else was home, but her home-care nurse would come late. Another reason why I choose this major is because I love to help other people out when they can’t help themselves. I earned my CNA license during my high school year Nursing program through Southside Virginia Community College. After I got my license I applied for a CNA job. I got the job at Chase City Health and Rehab Center in Chase City, VA.
I have changed my major from Nursing to Early Childhood Education. So as my Parallel Major is my new major. At first when I was still in the Nursing major I choose Early Childhood Education as my parallel major because I believed that I was not going to be able to get into the Nursing program. Something that interests me about this major is that I will be working with little kids and give them your education like my previous teachers did to me. Working with little kids is what I always wanted to do. Also helping them learn new things everyday. More interesting facts about this major is that you can experience first hand how a kids learning span grow more and more. Another is that you will get them prepared to move on to the next grade level. It is very interesting to watch and teach little kids things they need to know. Them having a little fun, answering questions, and seeing how their little brains are working. A career you can do with Early Childhood Education major is become a Preschool Teacher. Becoming a Preschool Teacher will be the first people to have a huge impact on your child’s life. They will help the child develop more foundation that will help and stick with them through elementary and beyond their education. Preschool Teachers will be the first ever to teach your children the basics of math, science, writing, art and more. Some additional classes required are Literature, Interpreting the American Past, Human Behavior: Lifespan Development, a Biology class and classes leading up to my major. A way to gain professional experiences in this major is to shadow a current Preschool Teacher that has been teaching for a while. There are two advisers I work with in my new major and their names are Ms. Nola Nicholson and Ms. Jordana Roberto.
