Mission – To increase the number of culturally responsible Black Engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally and positively impact the community.
I joined NSBE in the Spring of 2022 and have been an active member since. I served on the executive board as the Pre-Collegiate Initiative Chairperson. My responsibilities include overseeing NSBE jr chapters in the community with local elementary schools. This included supporting all chairpersons, preparing agendas for chapter executive board meetings, and helping committee chairs and officers develop action plans and goals.

This organization has played a major role in exposing me to many resources and opportunities, as well as expand my network. In the fall of 2022, I attended the Region II Fall Regional Conference with my chapter in Bethesda, MD. Here I was able to connect with other NSBE members ranging from the collegiate level to the professional level, network with different companies, and attend workshops such as the Lean Six Sigma seminar.
Engaging with the youth

With a dedicated team, I founded a STEM afterschool program aimed at sparking curiosity and fostering critical thinking among children. Through hands-on activities and projects, we empowered young learners to explore the wonders of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. Witnessing their growth and enthusiasm reaffirms my belief in the transformative power of education.
In this engaging lesson, children decoded their names into binary and translated them into colorful beads on strings. By exploring binary code in a hands-on and creative manner, they not only learned the fundamentals of computing but also developed problem-solving skills and gained a deeper appreciation for the language of technology. This interactive activity exemplifies our commitment to making STEM education both accessible and enjoyable for young learners!
