Teaching Philosophy

As a teacher, I believe that my role is to provide students with an educational outlet that enhances their everyday lives to create some type of drive within their inner selves; all while encompassing new knowledge on a daily basis. My classroom would be a very versatile environment and a space that my students feel comfortable in. I would hope to create a comfortable and positive environment to teach students in in order to help them gain confidence and independence through their learning. As a teacher, I would hope to serve as a role model to all of my students and encourage them to find their passion, no matter how long or how much effort it takes. It’s all about being happy in what you do and that in every situation or conversation you have, there is an opportunity for growth to learn. The students in my class are encouraged to express themselves, when necessary, in order to help me as a teacher gain feedback of their personality, knowledge, and desired skills. I believe that within the classroom it is important to communicate and put a huge emphasis on social interaction with professionals and peers around you. A students role is to embody that very persona and become the best version of themselves as possible. I believe that learning is achieved through diversity, communication, and self-assessment. It is important for my classroom to be diverse, in all aspects. It is important that my classroom is a place of open and encouraged communication. It is also important that my classroom is one that values self- assessment. When as student or professional self-assesses their everyday tasks, learning abilities, grades, assignments, etc., they are more likely to create a positive and meaningful viewpoint of themselves. They are able to acknowledge their strengths and weaknesses and build off of those characteristics in order to grow socially, physically, and mentally.

I have a passion for positivity and positive feedback, so I’d hope to carry this into my teaching habits in the near future. If someone is constantly putting out positive energy and thoughts, over time it will become the habit of someone else. I have gained the ability to create lesson plans and understand that background meaning behind each activity to help benefit my students. I learned the value of communication within a lesson and all of the aspects a lesson should consist of in order to overall maximize the students’ knowledge and outcome. These are aspects of teaching that I was not aware of, but through the guidance of this course, I was able to learn an incredible amount of skill to help carry me in the professional world in the near future.
