Exploring Culture

Throughout this class not only did I learn new Spanish words and grammar, but I also expanded my knowledge of different cultures in the Hispanic/Latino community. I myself am 100% Guatemalan but I was adopted so learning about my culture and similar cultures were very fun and interesting to me. We were asked to do discussion boards on different popular destinations in Mexico and other countries and compare them to those we have in America. One of my favorite discussion boards we did was research different traditions the Hispanic/Latino community has and compare those to some of the ones in America. I had so much fun researching my own traditions and even looking at my classmate’s findings! Seeing these different traditions and practices really helped me to appreciate other cultures and the beauty there is in all of our cultures. I feel most people including myself am blind to other cultures and even different people and this course really helped open my eyes and appreciate other cultures and their traditions.
