From Dream to Reality: A Girl’s Journey to Becoming a Physical Therapist

This interview had me think about more of the requirements that are needed for me to become a physical therapist. Such as needing to get my DPT due to the competitiveness associated within the field as well as all the academic requirements such as anatomy, physiology, and biomechanics. Dr. Amelia also told of how she got an early internship opportunity with her father’s friend who was a physician and because she met him, she was able to discover that there were different jobs associated with health sciences. It was how she discovered that she wanted to become a physical therapist. This makes me think about what other experiences and skillsets a physical therapists can have that would make me stand out amongst my other competitors to gain a good spot in my field. Overall, my interview experience was great, Dr. Amelia was incredibly understanding and considerate and gave me so many things to think about going forward. We have also discussed meeting again in the future.
