CYSE-200T The Human Factor in Cybersecurity Write-up

In this write-up, we discuss how I would balance a budget as Chief Information Security Officer for a company. There are two investments that need to be balanced, training and cybersecurity technology.
Training Investments
Effective user training is essential when it comes to cybersecurity posture. This can include phishing training, user awareness training, and cybersecurity policy training. With the limited budget I have, I would invest around 35% of it in user and employee training. This way, a budget can be provided to this department to make training frequent, high-quality, and personal. Investment here can reduce risk, save money on human errors, and improve employee productivity (Vukic, 2023).
Cybersecurity Technology Investments
When it comes to cyber technologies, I would invest the remaining 65% here. Investment in this department allows for advanced security tools, such as automatic phishing email detection. These advanced tools can also be used to automate security tasks, run antivirus scans, and set up an alert system for intrusion and vulnerabilities across the company.
Conclusion
My reason why I choose to balance my investments this way is because it is very beneficial to utilize both of these tools. Effective user training combined with advanced cyber security technology can create a great cybersecurity posture for my organization. The simultaneous investment allows the security and technology personnel to receive a significant upgrade to their tools, increasing their efficiency and security. It also allows for significant improvement in user and employee training, which can help to avoid user-related security mistakes and improve awareness across the company.
