With all the technology coming out now it all starts with the people and how they secure their products and share their information. Manual methods would not work there is so much data being created that a high percentage of it is manual so it would be a huge amount of unprotected data. I would protect against threats to confidentiality information by encryption, the way it’s used is when anytime you wouldn’t want anyone/everyone to see what you are doing. Too much sharing is hard to manage it is too many workflows and plenty of ways for content to be shared, edited, and stored. I would balance it by starting whenever the content is created, technology is never going to stop so you would just have to manage how people use the technology and how they spread their information. I would have firewalls. A firewall sits between two networks and tends to keep them separate from one another. All information must pass through the bottleneck that gives a single point of control. There’s a lot of technology that needs to be secured better than it is. By only protecting data on egress from the network, it opens up possibilities for risk. A solution I would do is to protect all data at all times and works best when it begins at the source. Since it starts with the people you would have to monitor employee behavior when it comes to risk. So I will balance it by less sharing information with one another and better security technology. According to the Capone reading, there are a lot of breaches happening inadvertently, accidentally, or intentionally. A lot of humans tend to take the easy way but we can’t do that. We have to stay in compliance, with sensitive information, and brand reputation.
