Cybersecurity, Technology & Society<\/h1>\n

The course explores the relation between cybersecurity from an interdisciplinary orientation. The attention focuses on the technologically-driven cybersecurity issues that are connected to cultural, political, legal, ethical, and business domains.<\/p>\n

Learning Outcomes<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

After completing this course, students will be able to:<\/p>\n

  1. Describe how cyber technology creates opportunities for criminal behavior.<\/li>\n
  2. Identify how cultural beliefs interact with technology to impact cybersecurity strategies.<\/li>\n
  3. Understand and describe how the components, mechanisms, and functions of cyber systems produce security concerns.<\/li>\n
  4. Discuss the impact that cyber technology has on individuals\u2019 experiences with crime and victimization.<\/li>\n
  5. Understand and describe ethical dilemmas, both intended and unintended, that cybersecurity efforts produce for individuals, nations, societies, and the environment.<\/li>\n
  6. Describe the costs and benefits of producing secure cyber technologies.<\/li>\n
  7. Understand and describe the global nature of cybersecurity and the way that cybersecurity efforts have produced and inhibited global changes.
    \nDescribe the role of cybersecurity in defining definitions of appropriate and inappropriate behavior.<\/li>\n
  8. Describe how cybersecurity produces ideas of progress and modernism.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Reflection<\/span><\/h1>\n

    The course gave me the opportunity to understand the connections with cybersecurity and other disciplines. An example from the course that comes to mind is the jurisdictional complications with cybercrime. The main reason seems to be the rapid advances that create a gap between these two fields. It is very important to understand these types of connections between cybersecurity and other disciplines, as they will bring awareness and potential solutions to address these types of issues.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
