Journal #9 Social Media and Cybersecurity

I notice that I want to use social media most days. I don’t feel dissatisfied that I cannot use social media platforms. I have never felt bad because I cannot use social media. I usually feel better about myself when I stay away from it. I can force myself to avoid social media if I consciously try to remind myself that I have more important things to do. I do not neglect my hobbies, such as video games or spending time with my partner watching movies or shows. I have never argued with anyone about my use of social media platforms. I am not typically asked if I spend too much time on social media because my wife and I spend a decent amount of time on social media sites. I do not use social media to escape reality; I usually read or watch movies and shows to break from reality. When I was younger, my cousin accused me of posting too many cat videos on Facebook. Still, it wasn’t an argument that was more of a “Hey, you have been posting many cat videos. You should probably chill,” I think I responded with a general “No.” After looking back on my responses to each of the questions, I am sure that I have an addiction to social media and would probably benefit from taking breaks from it. I think social media is widely used worldwide, just as much in the US.
