eP: Blog 9

Throughout this course, the material that I have learned so far has been very informative. The first thing that I have learned is that I now understand how people’s attitudes are formed, changed, and how it links to certain behavior. People decisions and thinking is based on perception and that is an important skill to know and understand. I think this skill is especially important to understand when it comes to the work force. The second thing that I have learned so far is that there are certain areas and abilities that make people learn to develop friendships overtime. I have learned that most friendships are based on qualities of the individual, similarities of social activities, and how you meet people and form friendships. The third thing that I have learned so far is that when it comes to diversity, their are many different social problems, aspects and views. A concept that we discussed and learned in the class was the reviewing on the video of the comedian, Michael Tirade, who slurred out racial comments at a comedy show. Assignment Three linked to Blog 6 with ” Perceptions of Blogs/ Advertisements “. Everything is based on perception, so how individuals interpret the meaning of advertisements against certain culture groups, is the same as how I had to interrupt if Michael Tirade was being a racist and stirring racial hate. Another concept that I learned so far is the learning of ” Heuristics”. One of the heuristics that we learned was ” Availability” heuristic, which is defined as suggesting something is easier to bring to the mind, then it has a greater impact on making judgements. This is linked to Cognitive Behavioral Theory in Health Psychology, because you would learn to discipline your eating behaviors and make better judgements on setting realistic goals. The reason why I selected the above image because it is a representation of how I typically stress out when it comes to completing assignments ( such as eBlogs ) in a presentable and timely manner. I set high goals for myself and sometimes I stress out about the little things, but everything ends up working out.
