For Money: This one makes the most sense to me because if you really think about it, a lot of crime, especially cybercrime, is mostly driven by the potential for financial gain. It’s a pretty straightforward incentive in criminals eyes.

2. Multiple Reasons: This is a solid second. Often, there isn’t just one reason driving criminals to do something; it’s a combination of multiple factors driving them to commit a crime

3. Entertainment: Some people do crimes just for the thrill of doing it, the challenge, or for the “love of the game”. It’s not as common as money, but its definitely still up there as a motivator.

4. Recognition: People want to be known, its just human nature for one to want to show off their skills. It’s about building their ego and gaining a higher social status.

5. Political: Hacktivism and cyber warfare are real. Ideology and political goals can definitely drive individuals to commit crimes.

6. Revenge: Getting back at someone or something for revenge is a powerful motivator, but it’s not as common as you would think compared to the other motives listed above it.

7. Curiosity: While curiosity can lead to exploration, it’s less likely to be the primary driver for criminal activity.

8. Boredom:This is the least likely in my opinion to be a motive for a crime. While boredom might play a small role, it’s hard to imagine it being the main reason someone commits a crime.

Details: Review the articles linked with each individual motive in slide/page #3. Rank the motives from 1 to 8 as the motives that you think make the… Read more “Week 5 – Journal Entry”

[1
