It&#8217;s wild how much Hollywood gets wrong! Seeing experts pick apart those scenes really made me think about how the media shapes our understanding of cybersecurity. Most people&#8217;s ideas about hacking come from what they see on screens, right?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The problem is that these portrayals often make cybersecurity look either way too simple or ridiculously dramatic. In reality, it\u2019s usually a mix of complex technical stuff and human error. When movies show hackers breaking into systems in seconds with a few lines of code, it gives a totally unrealistic impression. People might underestimate the actual risks and effort involved in protecting their data. On the flip side, the over-the-top, world-ending scenarios can make people feel helpless and disconnected from the issue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I think it&#8217;s important to be critical of what we see and remember that entertainment isn&#8217;t always accurate. It would be cool if there were more shows that tried to portray cybersecurity in a realistic and educational way.
