About Me

My name is Karen Hancock. I am a graduate nursing student and will complete my master’s program in May 2023. I am currently a registered nurse in the neonatal ICU at Children’s Hospital of The Kings’ Daughter’s. My goal after completion of my master’s degree is to practice as a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner at an inpatient pediatric facility.

When people realize that I am taking a Spanish course , I am frequently asked why and if it’s a requirement for my master’s program. I tell them that it is not and sometimes, if I am in a silly mood I will say, “I am taking Spanish because I am an overachiever!” Well, I certainly don’t feel like an overachiever in this class. I sometimes feel like a child just learning to talk and that a toddler’s vocabulary is more extensive than mine. I was very excited for the opportunity to take Spanish this semester and have enjoyed learning the language. I know I have much learning to do to be able to speak at the level I would like to.
