This blog post is to inform about the relationship between self regulation and emotional intelligence. Basically they work hand in hand when we are in different scenarios, Self regulation plays into your tolerance for your behavior and how well you can manage it in different situations. Emotional intelligence is the way that we manage our emotions, understand, and use them. Their relationship works hand in hand when we find ourselves in difficult situations and depending on how strong our self regulation will have an impact on our emotional intelligence. Emotional Intelligence is very important to me because I know that the way that I manage my emotions have an impact on my mental health and my relationships. Growing up, I had to learn how to manage my emotions because I learned that sometimes how I feel can effect others if I do not communicate them properly. Since I have been in college I have had situations where my feelings have been hurt due to others’ actions. When these situations happened I made sure to be open to others’ feelings while also being clear about how they made me feel. However, this takes a lot of practice and maturity to be able to achieve because I feel like you have to be calm and level headed to be able to come to an agreement or closure on the situation.
