Mid-Semester Reflection

1. Study habits

a. How much time do you spend studying for each class every week? On a regular week, Ispend about 4-5 hours studying (not including homework).

i. Do your grades reflect the amount of time that you study? My grades do reflecthow much I study, even when I tend to struggle.

ii. Do you need to put more time into studying, and for which class or classes? I think I do need to put more time studying to chemistry and chemistry lab,every other class.

b. Where do you study? I mostly study in the library, I will stay in my room if no one else is there.

i.Do you find yourself distracted while studying? I feel as if I am easily distracted,especially if I have my phone out.

ii. What could you do to remove these distractions? I think to avoid these distractions I could turn off my phone while I focus on my work.

c. What time of day are you the most focused and alert? Do you study at this time? I’m most focused at night.

2. Learning style

a. What new study techniques have you tried this semester based on what you have learned ? If you haven’t tried a new study technique, why? The studying technique that I that is the best for me is to write down the things I need to know, I’m a hands-on learner, so It works for me. I don’t know any other methods.

b. What specific study techniques do you think work best for you? How do these vary from class to class? *referring to the last question* I think that is the best technique I have.

3. Transition to college

a. Now that you’re halfway through the semester – Has college been what you expected? College has been what I made it to be, especially considering the circumstances we are in.

i.In what way is your college experience different from what you expected? The way my college experience has been different, goes without saying, we’re in the middle of a pandemic.

ii. What has surprised you about your experiences so far this semester? I’ve had no surprises thus far.

b. What is your favorite thing about campus? What is the toughest challenge? My favorite thing about campus is discovering a new freedom. My toughest challenge is staying on top of my work.

4. Connecting to campus

a. Name one problem or challenge you have encountered this semester, and which resource(s) at ODU you have/can utilize to assist with this situation. So far, I haven’tencountered a problem.

b. Is there a friend, roommate, professor, advisor, or group in the ODU community who has helped you so far this semester? If so, how did they help you? The most resourceful people I have is my Health Professions community.

c. Have you attended an interest meeting for a club? Why did you decide to get involved or not get involved? No, I would love to get involved, I just don’t know how.
