I found the speaker’s pathway into his career as a digital forensic investigator to be interesting, and I found myself fascinated about this occupation as he was providing details about some of his past experiences. He recounted how when he first got into this field, there were no courses that could be taken to provide an education about this digital forensics, rather he simply had to learn about it on his own through experiences in IT. I think this highlights how rapidly technology has developed in the past 2 decades, as nowadays many educational opportunities surrounding digital forensics are provided because it plays a crucial role in the criminal justice system and is heavily utilized by law enforcement. Furthermore, he put an emphasis on his role as a digital forensic investigator to preserve all digital artifacts and data that he collects, which I think is extremely important in today’s technologically driven society because there are many criminal cases and lawsuits that would require digital forensic evidence.
