Caption: When a website requires you to use a password, so you use the same password you have for every other account.

This relates to human-centered cybersecurity because often times instead of using a strong, original password, people will reuse a password they have for another account. Although reusing passwords may be convenient for someone to remember them, it’s safer to create a strong password that you have not used before.

Caption: Feeling so lucky because I just received an email stating that I’m eligible to receive a large amount of money!! I just have to reply with my bank information so the money can be wired to my account.

This tactic is known as a phishing scam which many unsuspecting people can fall victim to. Usually, the one behind the scam will send an email that looks authentic in attempts to obtain some type of personal data, such as banking information. It’s important for people to be able to identify these types of targeted attacks. Usually if something seems too good to be true, then one should not trust it.

Caption: When you just start a shift at your cybersecurity job, but you’re already tired of all the security protocols you have to follow.

A number of people may experience the phenomenon of security fatigue and become overwhelmed by following the many standard security procedures in line at their occupation. Some people may take shortcuts at their jobs in order to save themselves time or effort, however, by doing so they are putting their company’s digital information at risk. This highlights how important it is for all employees of a company to follow all security measures so they aren’t making breaches any easier for hackers.
