My intended major is nursing, and I chose it because I enjoy helping others and would like to make a difference.

I am caring, compassionate, hardworking, and concerned about the well-being of others.
- What experience, if any, do you have that relates to your chosen major/career?
I did some volunteer hours at a nursing facility and I also helped take care of my uncle, who was a hospice patient.
- In what type of setting would you prefer to work?
I would prefer to work in a pediatric hospital and care facility.
- What are your career goals (in 5 years/in 10 years)?
My career goals are to finish school then return to become a pediatric nurse practitioner.

I would like to learn more about health service administration, criminal justice, human services.

2. Transition to college
- What do you expect to be the biggest difference between high school and college?
I believe the biggest difference will be college has more opportunities and resources to use.
- What do you expect to be your biggest challenge this semester?
I think my biggest challenge will be keeping up with all of my online classes.
- If you live on campus: What do you expect to be your biggest challenge with moving away to college?
I believe my biggest challenge will be adjusting to new daily routines and not seeing the same faces every day,

I live on campus.
- Do you have a job/ or plan to get a job? If so, where? How many hours will you be working per week?
I have a job back home and I usually work an average of 20-25 hours per week. I do not plan on getting a job here my freshman year.
3. Study habits
- Is there a difference between “studying” and “homework”? Explain your answer.
No, I think they are both equally important and in my opinion, studying is homework.
- How much time do you plan to spend studying for each class every week?
I plan on spending about four hours a week for each class.
- For which class do you expect to spend the most time studying?
I expect to spend the most time studying Chemistry and Sociology.
- For which class (other than HLTH 101) are you expecting to spend the least amount of time studying?
I expect to spend the least amount of time studying English.
- Where do you plan to study?
I plan to study in my dorm or in the library.
- What potential distractions can you anticipate?
I can anticipate others studying and trying to complete their work.
- How do you plan to avoid these distractions?
I plan to keep headphones at all times and listen to relaxing sounds.
- What time of day is your best time to study and why?
My best time to study is around 4 pm because I will be done with most of my classes and will be able to focus.
- This Fall, you are in online courses, some of which do not meet at a specific time, how do you plan to manage all of your assignments?
I plan to schedule certain days and times for each class.
- Think about all of your commitments i.e. job, family, social life (from a distance and wear your mask! #ReignResponsibly). How do you plan on balancing your various commitments?
I plan to take some time during the weekend to make sure all my commitments are complete..
4. Learning style
- What specific study techniques do you think work best for you?
If I rewrite or reread the notes I can usually better retain the information.
- Do you use different study techniques for different classes? Provide examples.
Yes, for example math or chemistry I have to do practice problems to better understand but English or history I have to reread the notes.

One academic resource that I feel will help me this semester, is tutoring.

One non-academic resource that I feel will help me are my peers. I will ask them on their opinion on topics and dilemmas.

I believe a resource I will use is the library.

One resource I would like to learn more about is the Webb University Center because it appears to have many available resource.
- In high school, what clubs, organizations, or activities did you participate in, if any?
I was a member of FCA, FBLA, FCLA, WHAM, Beta, PBIS, Interact Club, Board Of Directors, SCA, Yearbook Staff, and Varsity Cheerleading.
- Is there a club or organization you plan to join this semester and what do you expect to gain from this experience? If not, why not?
I plan to join the black student alliance and I expect to gain friendships and a sense of community.
