The first thing to can do to ensure your computers safety from viruses, hackers, etc. is to make sure you have a firewall enabled. The purpose of this it to protect your device from unwanted and harmful traffic. If you have a windows operated computer, windows seven and newer already have installed firewalls so you don’t have to implement one yourself. Windows also has automatic updates so that you can make sure your firewall is always at its best and has the latest protection features. Windows also includes anti-virus software in its version 8’s and newer and these are called windows security or windows defender both work equally well, but these do need to be self updated on a regular basis to ensure they are working properly. All of these things are installed and working fresh out of the box.

Although all of these things windows does are very useful and extremally helpful and easy to maintain there are also some things you can and should do on your own to make sure your computer is extra safe and that you make it a habit to maintain its safety. The first thing you should do is make sure you have a strong password for everything on your computer and that has to do with your computer. While it may seem super easy and common sense having a strong password is super important and needed to ensure computer safety. Most websites and computers nowadays also have a reader that tells just how strong your password actually is. Another thing you can do for computer safety is to avoid using public internet services as much as possible such as public Wi-Fi in Starbucks, banks, malls, etc. As much as you can try to use your own private internet in your home and even your cellular hotspot on your phone and don’t let anyone else use it at the same time. Also, make sure that your using a secure browser as well when using things such as google, Bing, and safari.

Overall there are so many things you can do to ensure your computer is safe at all time and none of them are necessarily difficult it just requires you to create and maintain good habits and remind yourself of how important it is to keep up with your computer and safety habits to avoid getting any information, messed with, stolen, or exploited.
