Human history can be understood through many different lenses such as factual documents, literature, music, theater, and art. This course used Art as a medium to explain economic, political, and social movements experienced across Europe during the Renaissance. Students analyzed paintings, sculptures and architecture pieces that crated a historical timeline of this period. The instructor taught students how to interpret art, and how to apply specific vocabulary for said analysis. Below are a couple of samples of my best effort in the course.
Because a class was cancelled throughout the semester, the instructor assigned students the task to compare and contrast about the five pairs of art pieces from the Mannerism period that were to be discussed in class. Art history concepts like form and context were used to complete the assignment.
Questions asked in this essay exam were related to Jacques Louis David's art pieces and The Rape of the Sabine Women's historical significance in their respective contexts.
